Hanging out in the Spa

We are coming home!

We have been given the verbal to return home. We are on our way to Denver, CO tonight (Thursday, August 30th) and then we will catch a flight in the morning. We should arrive back in MS tomorrow night (Friday, August 31st) at 8:30 PM!

Enjoying the sunshine and pool

Chloe loves the pool. She really holds on tight though. Yes, it is another beautiful day in WY. We definitely do not miss the hot MS weather.

Another day of playing with Chloe in Cheyenne

We have enjoyed another beautiful day in Wyoming. The weather is so wonderful. We are still waiting for the final word/authorization from the Mississippi ICPC to return home. We still hope to be on our way home on Saturday. Chloe's personalty is really coming out. She loves music, does this cute little binky (pacifier) twist, walks with her hands behind her back, she laughs and smiles a lot and just loves attention.

Playing at Lion's Park

While visiting the local park and enjoying the beautiful weather (79 degrees with 11 % humidity), Robert was approached by a video crew and was asked to be interviewed about Lion's Park. The story appeared on the local TV News showing several short video shots of us playing with Chloe in the park. It was a beautiful day.

Meeting Chloe (The Story)

On Monday, August 27th, Cara, our birth mom, Cara’s mom (Dawn) and Chloe arrived at 11:00 to the attorney’s office. We were told earlier in the day that neither Cara nor Dawn wanted to meet us, but that we should be on call to come into the office earlier if they changed their mind. At 12:00 we received a phone call saying they were ready for us and that Dawn wanted to meet us, but Cara would not be there. We walked into the attorney’s office and were surprised to see Dawn and Cara holding Chloe. I hugged Cara and told her I was so glad she stayed. I was holding a baby doll I brought for Chloe. Chloe and I fed the baby while Cara continued to hold Chloe. She tried to give Chloe to me but Chloe wanted Cara. Cara and Chloe and I sat down on the floor and continued to play together with the baby doll. Cara and I had a chance to talk while Chloe played close by. Cara shared Chloe’s schedule with me and talked about her favorite things and different ways Chloe communicates. We also talked about why she chose us for Chloe. It was very clear to everyone that Cara has loved and taken very special care of Chloe the past 18 months. They had a very special bond and attachment to each other.

When it was time for Cara to leave she tried once more to put Chloe in my arms. Chloe fussed. Cara looked at Chloe and said, “It’s OK. She is a good lady.” Cara put her in my arms again and left. Robert walked Cara to the door and hugged her tight. Chloe screamed, Cara cried and so did Robert. The last words Cara said to Robert were, "I know in my heart that you will give her the love and encouragement that she needs... thank you." Chloe continued to cry for a while. She would hold out her arms to Drew. Drew would hold her and she would lay her head on his shoulder and stop crying. For 30 minutes Drew was her only comfort. Robert took her later and she fell asleep in Robert arms for a little while. When she woke up she was as happy and as sweet as could be. We just can’t take our eyes off of her. We have enjoyed all your posts and phone calls and are so happy to share these moments with you. We can’t wait to get home and let Chloe meet Kellan and Ryan!

We hope to be home Saturday night!
Love,
Tracy

We finally meet Chloe

It was a very emotional meeting. The birth mother decided to meet with us after all. We are so glad that she did. There were lots of tears and hugs. More to the story later...

She just loves Drew!

The time has been moved up!

We received a call early this morning from Barry the Social Worker from A Act of Love. Everything has been moved up to 11:00 AM this morning (Mountain Time). So, we canceled our morning run (Drew and Tracy) and are getting ready. The next post will be a picture of Chloe!

Dear Cara

What do you say to the birth mother of your soon to be adopted child?

We have arrived

We have arrived in Cheyenne, WY. We are settled into our room now and are looking forward to tomorrow with excited and anticipation! The most excitement we have seen today are the prarie dogs and buffalo herds.

We take a moment for a picture while on the Tram at the Denver airport.

Cara - Chloe's birth mother

Below is a comment made by Cara:

Cara is a twenty- year-old single mother of Chloe. Cara says, "I've tried to do it (parent) and I just can't... I want more for her... she deserves to have more than I can provide... she needs a home with two parents that is stable..."

Please pray for Cara. Pray for God to give her peace with this adoption.

We are headed to Wyoming!

Hello Everyone,
It's all set! We are leaving for Wyoming Sunday morning. We have an appointment with the attorney to sign paperwork and have Chloe placed in our arms at 1:00PM MT on Monday, August, 27.
Please keep Cara, Chloe's birth mom, close to your heart over the next few days. She is struggling with the decision as to whether she wants to meet us or not. We feel it will be beneficial to all if she is the one to place Chloe in our arms, signifying her gift to us and to Chloe. (Note: Beverly Corder, I know you are crying now! It's OK. Thank you for example that got us here today!)
Love,

The Bakers

Preparing for the Arrival

Target patiently awaits the arrival.

Target is helping me prepare for the arrival. He really likes the baby's toys and baby doll.

Her room is ready!
When will she arrive?
